Basketball Recap: Chopticon Comes Up Short

Chopticon was the 75-48 winner over Lackey when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Chopticon Braves fell 62-52 to the Lackey Chargers on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Braves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Chargers are ranked 45th).

Lackey's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Mansaray, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds. Tyzon Swann was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 13 boards.

Chopticon's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Lackey, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2.

Chopticon will challenge North Point at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Lackey has already played their next contest (against Ron Brown), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
