Recap: Burlingame Panthers vs. Mountain View Spartans
The Burlingame Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 49-21 loss at the hands of Mountain View. Burlingame was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.
When it comes to explaining why Burlingame lost, one person who can't be blamed is Angelo Medina. Despite the final result, he rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Medina was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Zach Shapiro was in the mix too, providing Burlingame with two touchdowns.
Mountain View got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Arturo Hernandez out in front who rushed for 183 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Conway, who threw for 128 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes.
Burlingame has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Mountain View, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.
Burlingame does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mountain View will be playing in front of their home fans against Branham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Branham is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
