Basketball Recap: Round Rock Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Round Rock had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 53-38 win over the Hutto Hippos. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Hippos are ranked 717th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Hutto still got an impressive performance from Jacob Bell, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 13 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Bell is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Caldwell, who posted four points.

Round Rock's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Hutto, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Round Rock will be taking part in a tournament against Clemens at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Hutto and Pflugerville will round out the year against one another at at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
