Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Apollo). They put the hurt on the Valley Vista Monsoon with a sharp 29-23 win on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Monsoon last Tuesday, they had to take a 31-27 defeat.

Whitney Chrisman and Michelle Ngchar did most of the damage at the plate: Chrisman went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, seven RBI, and two stolen bases, while Ngchar went 5-for-6 with one home run, eight RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave Ngchar a new career-high. Fernanda Barrera Prudente was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Apollo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

With the victory, Apollo broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-9. As for Valley Vista, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-9.
