Softball Game Preview: Olentangy Liberty Patriots vs. Grove City Greyhounds

The Olentangy Liberty Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Grove City Greyhounds at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Olentangy Liberty is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

Olentangy Liberty proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Olentangy Orange 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted against the Pioneers since April 25, 2022.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Grove City and Central Crossing have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Monday. The Greyhounds fell just short of the Comets by a score of 2-1.

Olentangy Liberty pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Grove City, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Olentangy Liberty suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Grove City in their previous matchup back in April of 2017. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
