West Jordan is a perfect 6-0 against Granger since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Jaguars will face off against the Lancers at 3:30 p.m. West Jordan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.
West Jordan blew Cyprus out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Cyprus got their revenge. The Jaguars fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 4-2. The game marked the Jaguars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
West Jordan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brendan Wood, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Granger). They were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over Hunter on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Lancers as they're now sitting on three straight.
Raniero Gonzalez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Gonzalez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Max Pace was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anthony Spicer, who went 3-for-6 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Granger kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
West Jordan's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-3. As for Granger, their record is now 6-12.
Granger's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. West Jordan has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Granger, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.2 strikeouts. Will West Jordan keep running through batters, or will the Lancers buck the trend?
West Jordan skirted past Granger 6-5 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
