Basketball Recap: Abernathy Now 12-2 over Last 14 Games

Abernathy extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Mecailin Marshall. The Abernathy Antelopes claimed a resounding 72-20 victory over the Tahoka Bulldogs thanks in part to Marshall, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 15 boards. The contest was her fourth in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Breanna Shorter, who posted ten points and five steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (three).

Abernathy is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Tahoka, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-14.

Abernathy will take on Floydada at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Abernathy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Floydada likes a good challenge. As for Tahoka, they will be playing at home against Ralls at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
