Football Recap: Strasburg Skates Past the Academy with Ease

Strasburg extended their winning streak to four on Saturday, bumping them up to 4-0. They blew past The Academy Wildcats 49-13. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-7.

Cade Hemphill continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 176 yards and three TDs on only eight carries, while also picking up 46 receiving yards and one touchdown. His longest rush was for an incredible 87 yards. Brody Hopwood was another key player, throwing for 226 yards and three TDs on only 18 passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Strasburg was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 241 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Strasburg didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Cash Schoonveld, Hemphill, and Jayden Miller picked up one apiece. Hemphill's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 141 rushing yards.

As for The Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Strasburg is ranked 50th).

Although The Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Ryland Chatterton and Cedric Rathbun.

Strasburg didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-7 victory against Wiggins on the 26th. As for The Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 24-14 defeat against Skyview on the 26th.
