Baseball Recap: De Leon's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

After a string of six wins, De Leon's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Lipan Indians by a score of 8-7. The Bearcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 8-4.

Brenner Wright was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

In other batting news, Andrew Coan was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Max Jones was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

De Leon's loss dropped their record down to 8-2-1. As for Lipan, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Looking ahead, De Leon is taking a road trip to square off against Stamford at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lipan, they will welcome Non Varsity Opponent at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
