Softball Game Preview: Payson Longhorns vs. Apache Junction Prospectors

The Payson Longhorns will take on the Apache Junction Prospectors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Payson came up short against Northwest Christian on Thursday, falling 17-8. The loss continues a trend for the Longhorns in their meetings with the Crusaders: they've now lost three in a row.

Holdyn Waterman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Logann Prock was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-5.

Meanwhile, Apache Junction was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 26-5 to Benson.

Payson's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-5. As for Apache Junction, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Payson beat Apache Junction 10-7 in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Does Payson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Apache Junction turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
