Soccer Game Preview: Hillcrest vs. Heritage

The Hillcrest Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the Heritage Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Hillcrest is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Corona on Wednesday. Hillcrest fell just short of Corona by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 465th, while the Panthers are ranked 191st).

Meanwhile, Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Moreno Valley.

Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8-2. As for Hillcrest, they now have a losing record at 3-4-3.

Hillcrest beat Heritage by a goal when the teams last played back in November of 2023, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hillcrest since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
