Basketball Recap: Alief Hastings Skates Past Terry with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Alief Taylor, Alief Hastings was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 59-26 victory over the Terry Rangers. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Rangers are ranked 870th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alief Hastings to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amyah Weathersby, who went 6 for 12 en route to 21 points and eight boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Weathersby has scored at least a third of Alief Hastings' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maricha Tisdell, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Alief Hastings smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Alief Hastings moved to 20-11 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Terry, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season.

Alief Hastings will take on Foster at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Alief Hastings is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season. As for Terry, they will challenge Fort Bend Marshall at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
