Southside was sadly handed a defeat on Tuesday, but Braxton Cuthrell did his best to prevent it. Cuthrell struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk), good enough for us to rate the performance as the best he's had all season long. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Even though Cuthrell couldn't lead Southside over Northside - Pinetown, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northside - Pinetown is limping into the matchup having lost four straight at home dating back to last season.
