Football Game Preview: Reeltown Rebels vs. Lanett Panthers + Official Tickets

The Reeltown Rebels will head out on the road to take on the Lanett Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Reeltown sitting on three straight victories and Lanett on seven.

Reeltown is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Providence Christian with a sharp 28-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won nine contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Reeltown to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alijah Woods, who rushed for 66 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries, and also picked up 30 receiving yards. An impressive showing, but Woods really ramped things up playing D: he picked up a sack and made ten total tackles in addition to snagging an interception. Another back making a difference was Traylen Roberts, who rushed for 85 yards and one score on only 12 carries.

Reeltown's run defense was locked in: Providence Christian could only muster 2.4 yards per carry. While one picked up at least ten total tackles, Woods stood above the rest. He rushed for 66 yards and one TD on only eight carries, and also picked up 30 receiving yards. Reeltown didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.9.

Reeltown's defense didn't let Craig Pittman, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as six different players picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lanett took on Luverne on Friday. The Panthers strolled past the Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 35-16. Lanett's victory was all the more impressive since the Tigers were averaging only 10.62 points allowed on the season.

Reeltown's record is now 10-3. As for Lanett, their record now sits at 11-2.

Reeltown and Lanett were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in October, but Reeltown came up empty-handed after a 20-19 defeat. Can the Rebels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
