Volleyball Recap: Athens Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Athens couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Unity Christian Lions on Thursday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Lydia Hart paced Athens' offense, picking up 13 kills. Hart got some help from Arabelle Cunningham and her 22 assists. Devan Barrett controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Athens moved to 30-8 with that loss, which also ended their five-match winning streak. As for Unity Christian, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 29-8.

As of now, neither Athens nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
