Softball Recap: Sequoyah Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

Sequoyah had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Eagleton College & Career Academy on Monday. The Sequoyah Chiefs put the hurt on the Eagleton College & Career Academy Royals with a sharp 12-2 win. The contest marked the Chiefs' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Sequoyah saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was TeAsya Cozart, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Cozart wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Sequoyah kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Sequoyah's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Eagleton College & Career Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sequoyah will challenge Loudon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Eagleton College & Career Academy, they will face off against Pigeon Forge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eagleton College & Career Academy has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
