Basketball Recap: Lauren Priester Key Part of a Team Effort in Grizzlies Win

On Friday, the Grassfield Grizzlies were able to grind out a solid victory over the Colonial Forge Eagles, taking the game 44-31. Given the Grizzlies' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Eagles are ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Grassfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lauren Priester, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 18 points and three steals. Priester has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 29 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Avia Scruggs, who posted four points in addition to ten rebounds and five blocks.

Grassfield's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Colonial Forge, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Grassfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 46-32 victory against Green Run on the 28th. As for Colonial Forge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-36 win against Grafton on the 28th.
