Basketball Game Preview: Curwensville Golden Tide vs. Williamsburg Blue Pirates

Curwensville is 0-7 against Williamsburg since January of 2022 but things could change on Monday. The Curwensville Golden Tide will host the Williamsburg Blue Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Curwensville didn't have too much trouble with Harmony Area as they won 60-45. That looming 60-45 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Golden Tide yet this season.

Curwensville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Davis Fleming led the charge by almost dropping a triple-double on 24 points, nine boards, and 11 assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which Fleming has scored at least a third of Curwensville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tuck Tkacik, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.

Curwensville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Williamsburg). They came out on top against Juniata Valley by a score of 85-75 on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Blue Pirates as they're now sitting on three straight.

Williamsburg is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Curwensville, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
