Baseball Recap: Garfield Has No Trouble Against Cleveland

While Garfield put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Cleveland. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 5-0. That five run margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.

Cleveland's batters probably weren't too happy with Taylor Woods, who pitched a no hitter and racked up seven Ks (he gave up a single walk). Woods also allowed no hits, which is notable because Garfield is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Owen Ward was a standout: he scored a run while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nash Whitford, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.

The win got Garfield back to even at 7-7. As for Cleveland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Garfield will welcome Rainier Beach at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Cleveland, they will venture away from home to take on Roosevelt at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
