Baseball Game Preview: Arlington Tigers vs. Briarcrest Christian Saints

Arlington is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Briarcrest Christian is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Tigers will host the Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Arlington made easy work of White Station and carried off a 9-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Briarcrest Christian). They never let St. Benedict at Auburndale get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Lance Bryan looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Taylor Brady, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Photopulos, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Briarcrest Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Briarcrest Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Arlington, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.

Arlington came out on top in a nail-biter against Briarcrest Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
