Eastern Alamance and Williams are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. Eastern Alamance will be playing at home against Williams at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eastern Alamance has five straight wins, Williams has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Eastern Alamance earned a 9-6 victory over Cedar Ridge.
Zack Merchel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Braxton Ballard was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rett Page, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Eastern Alamance kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.7 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 12.8.
Meanwhile, Williams didn't have quite enough to beat Western Alamance on Friday and fell 7-6.
Will Allen made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Pulliam, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Eastern Alamance's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Williams, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Eastern Alamance suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Williams when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Eastern Alamance avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
