Basketball Game Preview: Gardendale Rockets vs. Clay-Chalkville Cougars

Gardendale hasn't had much luck against Clay-Chalkville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Gardendale Rockets will welcome the Clay-Chalkville Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Wednesday, Gardendale beat Pinson Valley 40-29. Given the Rockets' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Indians are ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Clay-Chalkville took their game on Saturday with ease, bagging a 51-16 victory over Parker. That looming 51-16 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.

Gardendale pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Clay-Chalkville, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
