Basketball Recap: Poston Butte Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Teighlor Fong and Emily Maciver

Poston Butte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 48-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Queen Creek Bulldogs. The Broncos were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in December of 2017.

Emily Maciver and Teighlor Fong certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Maciver dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 boards, while Fong went 5-for-10 en route to 10 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Maciver is now averaging an impressive 8.8 rebounds per game. Sarah McKnight also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Poston Butte's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Queen Creek, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record.

Poston Butte didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 0-0 victory against Coolidge on the 26th. As for Queen Creek, they have also already played their next matchup, a 34-30 loss against Sahuarita on the 26th.
