Basketball Recap: West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] Takes a Loss

West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] lost against Carrollton back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The game between the West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] Cougars and the Carrollton Hawks didn't end well, with the West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] Cougars falling 69-51. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Hawks are ranked 95th).

Despite the defeat, West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ali Little went 8 of 13 en route to 29 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That was a full 56.9% of West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs]'s points, marking the sixth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vickie Mcgee, who scored six points and three steals.

Lauren Flowers continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Carrollton, going 12 for 17 on her way to 30 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Chloe McAdams, who went 5 of 8 en route to 10 points.

West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] now has a losing record at 12-13. As for Carrollton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season.

West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] will take on Calhoun/Brussels at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Calhoun/Brussels will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] surely won't give up without a fight. As for Carrollton, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 90-29 victory against Bunker Hill on the 5th.
