Baseball Game Preview: Southside Seahawks vs. Columbia Wildcats

The Southside Seahawks will face off against the Columbia Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Monday, Southside didn't have quite enough to beat Columbia and fell 11-9. That's two games in a row now that the Seahawks have lost by exactly two runs.

Austin Gerard put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Taylor Ashley was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Joshua Lewis, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Southside now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Columbia, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
