Softball Recap: Amherst Central Comes Up Short

Amherst Central had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-3 to make it eight. They fell 12-7 to the Williamsville East Flames. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 14-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Williamsville East, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1. That looming 12-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Williamsville East's part, the team relied heavily on Ava Wendell, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Wendell is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Lucy White, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Amherst Central will host Hamburg at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Williamsville East, they will challenge Clarence at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
