Baseball Recap: IMG Academy Takes Down Nationally-Ranked Jesuit

IMG Academy and Jesuit (ranked second and ninth in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile match on Tuesday. The IMG Academy Ascenders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Jesuit Tigers. Winning may never get old, but the Ascenders sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Daiki Mochizuki looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, IMG Academy's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Dean Moss, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Moss' first of the season.

IMG Academy's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Jesuit, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-4.

Coincidentally, IMG Academy and Jesuit will both be playing Clay the next time they take the field. Jesuit will host Clay at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while IMG Academy will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
