Football Recap: Cleveland Wins High-Profile Contest Against Garner

Cleveland faced Garner in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Rams were the clear victors by a 49-28 margin over the Trojans. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Cleveland was led to victory by Owen Hulbert and Kaleb Ferrell. Hulbert rushed for 58 yards and three TDs, while Ferrell rushed for 108 yards and a pair of scores. Those 58 rushing yards gave Hulbert a new career-high. Jaden Tibbs also helped out with an impressive 81 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cleveland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 277 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Cleveland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Porter Bennett and Kaden Blake. Cleveland received some extra help from Jaylen King, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Cleveland's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Garner, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2.

Cleveland has already played their next matchup, a 28-10 win against Southeast Raleigh on the 17th. As for Garner, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 29-10 victory against South Garner on the 17th.
