Basketball Game Preview: Arnold Marlins vs. Bay Tornadoes

The Arnold Marlins will square off against the Bay Tornadoes at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bay took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Arnold, who comes in off a win.

Arnold is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 51-36 victory over Cornerstone Charter Academy two weeks ago.

Arnold relied on the efforts of Jaylee Stewart, who posted 15 points, and Emma Crelling, who put up 15 points. Khadesha Knight was another key player, putting up seven points.

Meanwhile, Bay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 55-43 loss to Lincoln. While losing is never fun, the Tornadoes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 370th, while the Trojans are ranked 86th).

Arnold has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.3 points per game. As for Bay, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Arnold strolled past Bay in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 48-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Arnold since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
