Baseball Recap: Glendale Comes Up Short

Glendale extended their losing streak to 22 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-25. They came up short against the Mary Star of the Sea Stars, falling 10-4. The Dynamiters were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Stars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.

Antonio Larcena was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

As for Mary Star of the Sea, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2. Considering they have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Mary Star of the Sea's side, Giuseppe Virzi was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Virzi has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Mary Star of the Sea let Rogelio Ramirez and Riley Kaercher run wild. Ramirez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double, while Kaercher went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Kaercher has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Darryl Ruan, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Glendale will face off against Lancaster at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dynamiters' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. Mary Star of the Sea does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
