Softball Game Preview: Ramsay Rams vs. Pell City Panthers + Official Tickets

The Ramsay Rams will head out on the road to square off against the Pell City Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ramsay has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ramsay is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 19 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Moody on Wednesday. They lost 18-0 to the Blue Devils. The Rams have struggled against the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, while Pell City put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Sumiton Christian. The Panthers put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 11-0 win. The Panthers have beaten the Eagles the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.

Pell City got a great performance from Kenzy Atkinson as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Atkinson has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kherington Keith was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Jayden Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Pell City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. The last time their batting average was this high was in their last six matchups.

Ramsay's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Pell City, their record now sits at 20-13-2.

Ramsay came up short against Pell City in their previous matchup back in March of 2019, falling 8-4. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
