Softball Recap: Sunday's Win Is Portsmouth's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Portsmouth won the last time they faced South Kingstown and things went their way on Sunday too. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Rebels. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Portsmouth let Evelyn Schmidt and Kaylyn Aubuchon run wild. Schmidt went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Aubuchon went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most runs Aubuchon has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Tatum Brennan, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Portsmouth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Portsmouth is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for South Kingstown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-14.

As of now, neither Portsmouth nor the Rebels have any future games scheduled.
