Softball Recap: Chantilly Comes Up Short

Chantilly managed to slip by Oakton the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Chargers lost 11-3 to the Cougars on Wednesday. The Chargers just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Bella Eig was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sunny Moring made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Chantilly's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Oakton, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Chantilly will face off against South Lakes at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oakton, they will square off against West Potomac at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
