Alex Wise was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mount Dora Christian Academy is 6-3 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-9 otherwise. In other pitching news, Ethan Priest tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has become a key player for Mount Dora Christian Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 8-12 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Weston Barrett was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Foundation Academy was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Poinciana, sneaking past 4-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.
Foundation Academy also got a great performance from Ethan Pate as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Pate has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Anthony Miceli, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Barak Boston was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mount Dora Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Foundation Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Mount Dora Christian Academy took their win against Foundation Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
