Softball Recap: East Central Beats Brookhaven for Their Fourth Straight Win

East Central extended their postseason success on Monday against Brookhaven. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Panthers. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Abby Danis, who gave up just six hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Brookhaven off the board. Danis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Abbie Huff and Chloe Sheppard did most of the damage at the plate: Huff went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Sheppard went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave Sheppard a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailee Lawson, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

The victory was the fourth in a row for East Central, bringing their record up to 24-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Brookhaven, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-12.

Looking ahead, East Central will take on North Pike at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Brookhaven does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
