Lawrence gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They skirted past the Manhattan Indians 8-6. For Lawrence, this counts as revenge for the 8-5 defeat Manhattan walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.
Taylor Zeckser tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off ten hits.
On the hitting side, Harper Dye was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Lili Spinelli, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI and a double.
Lawrence will have a chance to go back-to-back against Manhattan: the pair will be back at it again later today.
