Basketball Recap: Northumberland Takes a Loss

Northumberland entered their game against Essex on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Northumberland Indians lost 52-30 to the Essex Trojans. The Indians lost against the Trojans in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 1-0 score last time.

Morgan Self was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds for Essex. That makes it three consecutive games in which Self has scored at least a third of Essex's points. Another player making a difference was Aryeon Robinson, who posted 12 points in addition to eight steals and three blocks.

Northumberland's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-5. As for Essex, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season.

Northumberland has already played their next contest, a 56-23 defeat against Westmoreland on the 30th. As for Essex, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 33-31 victory against Colonial Beach on the 30th.
