Basketball Game Preview: Kotlik Falcons vs. Scammon Bay Eagles

Kotlik is 0-6 against Scammon Bay since January of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Kotlik Falcons take on the Scammon Bay Eagles at 9:00 a.m.

Kotlik is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 66-31 loss at the hands of Emmonak. The Falcons were down 59-22 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Meanwhile, Scammon Bay had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Strivers 69-26. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 43 points or more this season.

Scammon Bay pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 37 points. As for Kotlik, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Kotlik took a serious blow against Scammon Bay in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, falling 80-27. Can Kotlik avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
