Basketball Recap: North Surry Greyhounds vs. Surry Central Golden Eagles
If North Surry was riding high fresh off their 60-25 takedown of Mount Airy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The North Surry Greyhounds took a 46-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Surry Central Golden Eagles on Wednesday. The matchup was a 16-16 toss-up at halftime, but the Greyhounds couldn't quite close it out.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Surry Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Stella Wall, who posted eight points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. Those 11 boards gave Wall a new career-high. Layla Wall was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.
North Surry's defeat dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Surry Central, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Surry will square off against North Wilkes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Wilkes will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something North Surry surely won't give up without a fight. As for Surry Central, they will face off against East Surry at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
