Volleyball Recap: Homestead Broncos vs. MAST Academy Makos
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Varela, Homestead was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the MAST Academy Makos. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Broncos also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.
Homestead never let MAST Academy on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-17, 25-22.
Gilbert Reyes paced Homestead's offense, picking up four kills. Reyes got some help from Karon Williams and his 12 assists. Oliver Cerna controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Homestead's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for MAST Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Homestead will venture away from home to take on Killian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Homestead is facing Killian at the right time seeing as Killian is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for MAST Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Carol City at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. This will be Carol City's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
