Volleyball Recap: Jefferson Davis Academy Comes Up Short

Jefferson Davis Academy suffered their biggest defeat since September 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to the Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors. If the Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Warriors when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jefferson Davis Academy was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-8, 25-23.

Leading Andrew Jackson Academy to victory were McKinnley Beard and Harlo Sease. Beard had 15 kills and two blocks, while Sease had six digs and six aces. Beard is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 28 games she's played dating back to last season. Carrigan Moore was another key player, getting five kills and four blocks.

Jefferson Davis Academy now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jefferson Davis Academy will welcome Curtis Baptist at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dorchester Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
