Recap: El Cerrito Gauchos vs. Windsor Jaguars
With a playoff game on the line, the El Cerrito Gauchos rose to the challenge on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 34-31 win over the Jaguars. El Cerrito's victory was all the more impressive since Windsor was averaging only 14.69 points allowed on the season.
Windsor's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hayden Anderson, who picked up 91 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Max McFerren , who picked up 96 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The victory (which was El Cerrito's fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.0 points per game. As for Windsor, their loss dropped their record down to 10-2-1.
El Cerrito will head out on the road to face off against Los Gatos at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Los Gatos: 14.9, El Cerrito: 10) so any points scored will be well earned. Windsor does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
