The Atlantic Coast Stingrays will take on the Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Atlantic Coast nor Fernandina Beach made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Stingrays had just enough and edged out the Pirates 4-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Stingrays.
Lily Maguire spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Stella Lynton, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Cano, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Flagler Palm Coast sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Beachside on Wednesday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Barracudas recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Skylar Ludovici was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Ludovici was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Ludovici wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mackenzie West, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Atlantic Coast's victory bumped their record up to 20-5. As for Flagler Palm Coast, their win bumped their record up to 6-15.
Everything went Atlantic Coast's way against Flagler Palm Coast in their previous meeting on Monday, as Atlantic Coast made off with a 17-4 victory. Will the Stingrays repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
