Basketball Game Preview: Provo Bulldogs vs. Stansbury Stallions

The Provo Bulldogs will face off against the Stansbury Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Provo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season.

On Saturday, Provo needed a bit of extra time to put away Manti. They managed a 52-46 victory over the Templars. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Templars are ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Makai Allen, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds gave him a new career-high. Crew DeMartini was another key player, putting up seven points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Stansbury came up short against Kanab on Saturday and fell 73-60.

Stansbury has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.1 points per game. As for Provo, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Provo won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, slipping by Stansbury 60-59. Does Provo have another victory up their sleeve, or will Stansbury turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
