Softball Recap: El Diamante Takes a Loss

El Diamante fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Porterville on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 5-4. The Miners were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 10-3.

Jadelynn Quinday spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alexis Ruvalcaba made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

El Diamante has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13-1 record this season. As for Porterville, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-16 record.

El Diamante has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Redwood on the 8th. As for Porterville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Mt. Whitney on the 8th.
