Softball Recap: Toms River South Wins Going Away Against Freehold Boro

Toms River South won the last time they faced Freehold Boro and things went their way on Saturday too. The Indians blew past the Colonials 19-3. Considering the Indians have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Charlotte Supino made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Supino was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with six RBI and one double. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Tuper, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Minerie Sanchez, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Toms River South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freehold Boro only posted a batting average of .222.

The victory made it two in a row for Toms River South and bumps their season record up to 7-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Freehold Boro, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-15.

Looking ahead, Toms River South will host Toms River North at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Indians are facing the Mariners at the right time seeing as the Mariners are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Freehold Boro, they will venture away from home to challenge Raritan at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
