Basketball Recap: Kendall Proffitt Key Part of Team Effort in Spartans Win + How To Watch

There's no place like home for St. Johns Country Day, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They managed a 56-50 victory over the Bishop Snyder Cardinals on Monday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

St. Johns Country Day's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kendall Proffitt led the charge by dropping a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Proffitt has become a key player for the Spartans: the team is 2-1 when she posts at least ten boards, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Dorsey, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 14 points and seven rebounds.

Despite the loss, Bishop Snyder still got an impressive performance from Shelby Gaines, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 13 boards. That was a full 46% of the Cardinals' points, marking the seventh time in a row Gaines has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Carolyn Caldwell, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

The victory got St. Johns Country Day back to even at 3-3. As for Bishop Snyder, their record now sits at 2-5.

Coming up, St. Johns Country Day will be playing in front of their home fans against Old Plank Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bishop Snyder, they will head out to square off against Mandarin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cardinals will be up against the Mustangs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.6 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
