Baseball Recap: Ponca City Comes Up Short

Ponca City made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Guthrie, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wildcats fell just short of the Bluejays by a score of 5-3 on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Bluejays: they've now lost three in a row.

Ponca City saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kalon Covey, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Ponca City's loss dropped their record down to 9-21. As for Guthrie, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-8.

Coming up, Ponca City will welcome Putnam City at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Guthrie, they will challenge Chisholm at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
