Softball Game Preview: Clinton County Bulldogs vs. Southwestern Warriors

Clinton County hasn't had much luck against Southwestern recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Clinton County sitting on seven straight victories and Southwestern on three.

On Monday, Clinton County earned a 4-1 win over Adair County.

Meanwhile, Southwestern hadn't done well against Garrard County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Warriors walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Golden Lions.

Jayla Singleton tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kylie Dalton, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoie Lowery, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Clinton County pushed their record up to 26-7 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Southwestern, their win bumped their record up to 16-8.
