Baseball Recap: Raymond Central Comes Up Short

Raymond Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 12-5 to the Crete Cardinals. On the bright side, the five- run performance marked the Mustangs' highest-scoring contest to date.

Adam Jamison made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That hit was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mackson Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Raymond Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Crete, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-6 record.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Raymond Central is set to square off against their familiar foe Guardian Angels Central Catholic/West Point Beemer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Crete will challenge rival Beatrice at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
